One of the pillars of Asset Management is Maintenance , the main factor for operating with maximum productivity and increasing the useful life of the building. Every building requires some type of maintenance at certain times, whether to repair potential damage or to prevent it from occurring.
In roofs, whether made of slabs, metal tiles, ceramic tiles or even glass, the main cause of problems is infiltration. Because they are constantly exposed to the elements, roofs suffer an accelerated degradation process, which can be further aggravated by the lack of regular maintenance, reducing the useful life of the elements and harming the building’s operations and activities.
The project
In one of our projects, we had the challenge of solving a watertightness problem in a glass roof, and to do so, we were looking for an efficient, high-performance and cost-effective solution.
In this search, carried out in conjunction with our partner supplier, we became aware of GE’s product, Enduris. This is a liquid silicone waterproofing membrane for the treatment and recovery of roofs, slabs and metal coverings. Although the product’s main specification is not for glass coverings, after tests carried out in conjunction with our partner supplier and the GE team, we obtained excellent sealing results, eliminating the need to remove the existing silicone , since the product could be applied over it. In this way, we achieved a gain in productivity, while maintaining a consistent result.
Excellent result
In addition to forming a durable, water-resistant seal, we were able to observe some advantages, such as:
- Greater product yield in your application
- Good adhesion to pre-existing elements (glass and sealing silicone)
- Easy to apply , using a brush with just one coat;
- Greater agility in the process compared to traditional techniques
- Lower cost
Complete sealing of the joints between the glass panels (longitudinal and transversal) of 4 glass roofs was carried out, totaling an intervention area of over 3000 m². We were able to deliver a satisfactory result, completely resolving the pathology.
